I took off on a solo ride to go and see what there was to see around Clarkston. It was a pleasant surprise to see some great views, ride some fun 4-wheeler trails, and only encounter one other person the entire ride. The views from Sheep Dip mountain were spectacular.
This ride was off the charts! After our adventure on Memorial Day (5 days ago, I was beat…), I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too excited about hitting this trail again this soon. Today was a whole different story, much of the snow had melted, although we did have to saw up through a few patches here and there, and Tim brought a chainsaw to take care of the tree that we almost made it to before.
Jordan and Mitch, both 13 years old on CRF 150R motos, absolutely killed it on this trail. I was very impressed with their bikes and how well they rode them, good job!
Card still had a few difficult sections, Richards/Cart/Seep/Whites was unbelievably good.
Crew: Jordan, Mitch, Tim, Dunker, Chaz, and me.
Visit the trail guide section of this site for details on any of these trails.
When is the next ride?!?
Chaz got him a brand new tiller (’09 KTM 450 XCF), so we had to go take it for a maiden voyage. It’s a nice bike, no doubt about it.
It was raining pretty good as we drove up the canyon, but conditions were excellent by the time we go on the trail. We decided to see how BtC and Steel would treat us and it was gooood. From the top of BtC to the road it was a little greasy, but nothing like last year.
Crew: Chaz, Lance, and me.
We tried to get up Card for Memorial Day. Conditions were slick and muddy with a quite a bit of snow before you get to the switchbacks. There is a pretty big tree down in one of the snow sections, we turned around. Forest service stopped to chat while we were getting ready, she just told us to be careful and stay on the trail. Make sure your tags are renewed for the year!
Crew: Nate, Zac, Chaz, and me.
We tried to clean up the root, but Nate’s little saw just wouldn’t cut it, we need a bigger saw. Actually we might need a chain saw for the tree above.
This is as far as we made it
We borrowed Chaz’s Rhino (thanks Chaz!) so the boys could show off their moto skills to Grandma and Grandpa. They all did really well up around SV and Round Hill and up Hyde Park Canyon. Grandpa loved the Rhino, Grandma was afraid…
p.s. Moto ride on Memorial Day, meet @ Mooch’s 9:00 AM, call or txt me for details.
